SIAR 2018: TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Chronometer "Tête de Vipère"
Voted Sports Watch Of The Year

Mexico's Salón Internacional Alta Relojería (SIAR) fine watch fair took place on the 16th-18th October. Created in 2007, this event is the highlight of the watchmaking year for both South America and the entire Caribbean, with 40 watch brands in attendance, joined by more than 400 guests from the international media. Recognising watches created during 2018, SIAR awarded TAG Heuer the Sports Watch of the Year prize for the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Chronometer "Tête de Vipère".

"Naturally, we are delighted to win this prize, as it recognises the incredible expertise of the haute horlogerie team, and the hard work of both the development and product teams and the TAG Heuer Institute, who together constantly innovate and strive towards perfection to ensure the continued excellence of the brand" explained Guy Semon, CEO of the TAG Heuer Institute.

This new version of the Carrera features two of the most prestigious complications that traditional watchmaking has to offer: a tourbillon which, via its almost hypnotic motion, cancels out variations in rate, and a chronometer with "Tête de Vipère" chronograph certification, developed and produced by the teams at TAG Heuer, within our very own manufacture.

We are therefore extremely proud to be the first Swiss watch manufacture able to market tourbillon chronographs which not only have chronometer certification, but which bear the exclusive and prestigious "Tête de Vipère" stamp of excellence, awarded by the Besançon Observatory on behalf of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures. More than simply proof of quality and accuracy, this stamp is confirmation of technical expertise which borders on perfection.

"We are currently the only brand with the expertise to series-produce chronometer tourbillon chronographs which have "Tête de Vipère" certification." added Guy Semon. "Thanks to the commitment of everyone who supported our research, TAG Heuer has become the largest manufacturer of premium tourbillons, 100 % of which have received chronometer certification in Switzerland, cementing the brand's position as an outstanding producer of high-precision haute horlogerie. Moreover, our Carrera Tourbillon broke a record 15 days ago for a chronometer at the Besançon observatory."

This prize recognises a collective commitment to stay true to our philosophy: "Swiss Avant-Garde since 1860". Huge congratulations to all involved!
